Insalata di Riso

Being far from home makes me crave italian food! So this is an english-only post since i hope all you italians know how to do Insalata di Riso!!!
This is a typical summer dish, fast and easy to do. It's called Insalata di Riso (Rice Salad). It would be even easier to do it if we were in Italy, since in the supermarkets there they have a can called "Condiriso" and that has everything you need in it - just add your personal touches! Everyone does it in a different way.. some add cheese, mayo.. i am not a fan of those additions!
Here is my version, buit from my memories of when my mom used to do it!

• White long grain rice, boiled as if it was pasta (bring water to boil in a large saucepan and salt then add rice)
• When cooked (10mins approx) drain and let cool
•  Add fresh tomatoes in pieces, sweet corn, cornichons, tuna, green pitted olives (cut in 2) and artichoke hearts
• Add secret ingredient (a little bit of worcestershire sauce)
• Stir!

Cover and keep in the fridge. Take out of the fridge approx 30 min before you are going to eat it, or it will be too cold and you won't be able to taste all the different ingredients!

Pizza Cone!

Ho appena scoperto che esiste la pizza in cono.. non sono certa che sia una buona trovata, e che il sapore sia buono.. ho letto un sacco di recensioni negative tranne una che diceva: almeno nn ti sgocciola olio da tutte le parti! Se siete nei paraggi... date uno sguardo! Per quanto mi riguarda, non penso di essere ancora pronta per questo.. dalla foto mi sembra un gelato e non penso di riuscire a mangiare un cono che sa di pizza..!!!

I just found out that now you can have your pizza in a cone... i am not really sure if this is a good or a bad idea, i have read a lot of bad reviews about it.. but the good note is that oil doesn't drip from this one! If you are in the mood for something new.. give it a shot! For what i am concerned.. i'll wait a little more! i can't see me eating a cone that looks like icecream and then tastes like pizza..!!

Levain Bakery

E vengono da li i biscotti piu' buoni ed esagerati che posiate immaginare! Levain Bakery oltre ai biscotti fa pane, brioche.. ma il pezzo forte sono questi enormi, gigantici cookies (Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip). Uno e' piu' che abbastanza vista la stazza! Io ne ho mangiato mezzo... sono stata poi assalita dai sensi di colpa!

And from here come the goodest and biggest cookies you can possibly imagine! Levain Bakery cookies also does bread, croissants .. but the signature products are the enormous, gigantic cookies (Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip). So big that one is more then enough! I ate half ... and then felt guilty!

Ciao! Avete passato un buon weekend? Tornando dal lavoro venerdi sera avevo proprio voglia di un dolcetto.. quindi Frankie ed ioci siamo ferati da Crumbs a prendere un cupcake.. o due.. :-)

.. Anche da Starbucks! E' arrivata una nuova card in onore della primavera che sembra essere finalmente arrivata qui a Ny! Hurray per noi, sembra che fino a domenica il tempo sia perfetto! Staremo a vedere.. Ma tornando a Starbucks, le novita' rispecchiano il clima della citta'.. La scorsa settimana hanno introdotto il Dark Cherry Mocha (un surrogato di Mon Cheri fatto a caffe') e devo dire che e' andato alla grande, visto il freddo che faceva; invece da ieri le temperature arrivano a 17 gradi, e tirano fuori la "Spring card" .. Sono proprio pronti a tutto questi ammmmericani...!

Kee's Chocolate

La scorsa settimana stavo passeggiando con mio marito e mia figlia per le viette del West village, e siamo capitati per caso davanti al negozietto di Kee. Una ragazza che ha deciso di cambiare vita e dal mondo della finanza si e' buttata in quello della cioccolata! Abbiamo DOVUTO assaggiare qualcuno dei suoi famosissimi Maccaroon e cioccolatini! E ne e' valsa la pena! Combinazioni particolari e colori invitanti!
